5、ll rhetorical structure andlinguistic forms than are the Chinese abstracts to its introductions. In the discipline ofeconomics，however,the Chinese abstracts are more similar to the introductions thanare the English abstr

6、acts to the introductions. The variations are somewhat opposite inthe tWO disciplines．An analysis of the genre set in the two languages shows that thereis no general conclusion on the disciplinary variation in English，an
