7、ic features and translation methods of product description, contract, correspondence and foreign trademark and brand are analyzed respectively. The A Course in English-Chinese Business Translation written by Pan Hong and

8、 Innovative Translation from Business English into Chinese compiled by Chang Yutian provides good teaching and learning materials for teachers and students in the college of economics and trade. Commercial English Transl

9、ation written by Yu Fulin, Translation of Business English compiled by Peng Ping, Practical Business English Translation written by Zhu Xiangqi are all the books of providing practical translation strategies according to

13、ey voice their distinctive viewpoints of communication as ostensive-inferential communication. The theory maintains that communication is an ostensive and inferential process involving the speaker’s informative intention

14、 and communicative intention. They agree with Grice that communication is not simply a matter of encoding and decoding, it also involves inference. But they maintain that inference has only to do with the hearer. From th

15、e speaker’s side, communication should be seen as an act of making clear one’s intention to express something. This act they call ostensive act. In other words, a complete characterization of communication is that it is

16、ostensive-inferential. And “ostensive communication”, or “inferential communication”, is shorthand.1.2 The Contents of the Cooperative PrincipleAccording to Grice’s observance, a speaker communicates more than what his o

17、r her words say, not by encoding them linguistically, but by providing evidence of his or her intention to convey them. In search of how such evidence can be provided by the speaker, Grice found that human communication

18、is governed by norms and principles:Our talk exchanges do not normally consist of a succession of disconnected remarks, and would not be rational if they did. They are characteristically, to some degree at least, coopera

19、tive efforts; and each participant recognizes in them, to some extent, a common purpose or set of purposes, or at least a mutually accepted direction (Grice, 1975).In order to explain how the speaker can manage to convey
