2、o-pragmatism. There is also limited research at home on Richard Shusterman, a representative pragmatist philosopher and esthetician. The thesis aims to present a comprehensive and systematic view on Shusterman’s neo-prag

3、matism through the study of some translated versions of Shusterman’s books and some domestic scholars’ findings to fill the gap of research on neo-pragmatism. The position of Shusterman in the pragmatism circle has been

4、analyzed through the analysis of the formation process, the concept connotations, fundamental spirits, representative figures and other related background information of pragmatism. The point of view of pragmatist philos

5、ophy advocated by Shusterman has been explored by the demonstration of Shusterman’s life experience and his shift to pragmatism. The core of the thesis lies in the review on analysis, deconstruction and criticism on Rort

6、y’s pragmatism by Shusterman. The philosophical foundation of the pragmatist esthetics proposed by Shusterman is based on the above-mentioned criticism. The focus of the orientation of pragmatism concerns not only the es

7、thetical principles of pragmatism, but also the epistemology, ontology and even ethnics of pragmatism. Shusterman fully absorbed the potentials of pragmatism in Baumgarten’s esthetics and built up a perfecting scheme for

8、 the fostering of body, which was a collection of structure or system construction — somaesthetics. And somaesthetics is the unique innovative idea in Shusterman’s neo-pragmatism. The significance of the research on soma

9、esthetics has been explored in the thesis. In the last part of the thesis, the author attempts to state frankly the influences of Shusterman’s neo-pragmatism on himself, including the newer understanding philosophy and h
