3、classesinCantoneseEnglishculturalcommunityprogrammescounselingreferralservicesotherintegrationprogrammesfethnicminitiestofacilitatetheirintegrationintothecommunityaccesstopublicservices.InadditionthecentreinKwunTongprovi

4、desfreecentralisedtelephoneinterpretationservices.3.Wesetoutintheensuingparagraphsdetailsonthelatestdevelopmentofthefourcentres.“HarnessingOpptunitiesPotentialsfEthnicMinities”(HOPE)SupptServiceCentre4.TheHOPEcentreopera

5、tedbytheInternationalSocialServiceHongKongBranchatWanChaicommencedoperationon31May2009.TheCentreprovidesEnglishCantoneselanguageclassesaswellasintegrationprogrammesincludingpersonalitydevelopmentcourseshealthtalkscompute

6、rclassescrossculturalinterestclassessuchasYogaThaimassage.AsatendFebruary2011100languageclasses60computerclasses108integrationprogrammes(besidescomputerclasses)havebeenconductedwithatotalofabout5800participantstakinginto

7、accountadditionallanguageclassestransferredfromISSHKtothesupptcentre.5.TheCentrehasbeenparticularlypopularamongfeigndomestichelpersbutitisactivelyreachingouttootherethnicminitygroupsthroughits3TheCentrefHarmonyEnhancemen

8、tofEthnicMinityResidents(CHEER)9.TheCHEERcentreoperatedbytheHongKongChristianServiceatKwunTongcommencedoperationon5September2009.TheCentreprovidesEnglishCantoneselanguageclassesintegrationprogrammeswithaviewtofacilitatin

9、gtheintegrationofethnicminitiesintothecommunity.IntegrationprogrammesofferedbytheCentreincludesocialientationprogrammes(suchastalksaboutemploymentlawshospitalservices)technicalliteracyprogrammes(suchascomputercourses)cul

10、turalliteracyprogrammes(suchaskungfupapercutting).AsatendFebruary201190languageclasses49computerclasses180integrationprogrammeshavebeenheldwithatotalofnearly14900participants.ApartfromprovidingtheprogrammesattheCentreinK

11、wunTongprogrammesarealsobeingprovidedscheduledinotherdistrictssuchasShamShuiPoToKwaWanTsimShaTsui.10.InadditiontheCentreprovidesfreecentralisedtelephoneinterpretationservicestofacilitatecommunicationbetweenethnicminityse

12、rviceuserspublicserviceprovidersincludinggovernmentdepartments.SevenethnicminitylanguagesdialectsarecoveredcomprisingBahasaIndonesiaHindiNepaliPunjabiTagalogThaiUrdu.Mostoftheenquiriesrequestsfinterpretationinvolveissues

13、ineducationemploymenthousingsocialwelfare.Thecentrealsooffersonsiteinterpretationservicesfethnicminitiestranslationservicesftheuseofpublicservices.11.Publicityefftssuchasdistributionofwalletcardspostersdistrictvisitsradi

14、oannouncementsaremadetopromotethetelephoneinterpretationotherservicesofthecentretotheethnicminitycommunities.TheCentrealsoconductsaseriesofbriefingfgovernmentbureauxdepartmentsaswellasNGOsprovidesthemwithguidelinesonusin
