2、iangsu Basin is a most sensitive and an ideal region for global change research. Due to its complex evolution process, there is still a long way to go for the Quaternary research especially for the record since 200ka B.P
3、 in this area. As a more mature ancient enviromental indicator ,Grain-size is widely applied in more and more fields for its particular merits- “simplicity ,rapid , clear physical meaning, sensitive to climate change, et
4、c.”.However, grain-size of sediment are influenced by very complex factors, including climate, transportation process, post depositional changes,etc.,there is no uniform pattern for the relationship between grain-size
5、 parameters and environment.How the granularity characterization would respond to the paleoenvironment is worth researching in this land-sea interacting area. We choose the upper 33m part, from the 740m length Xinghu
6、a Core 2 for environmental grain size measurement, combining with lithology and granularity analysis, and try to analyse the grain size characteristics in different facies and how they responded to paleoclimate. Conclusi
7、ons gained are as follows: (1) The results of granularity analysis and lithology characterization indicate that the sediment condition has experienced several alternation.33~22.76m,deposit of shallow lake of plain;22.76~
8、19.70m,deposit of muddy beach;19.70~8.74m,deposit of shallow lake of plain;8.74~5m, deposit of backswamp of plain;5~0.51m, deposit of l shallow lake of plain. (2) We establish preliminarary time scale with grain size by
9、the method of orbit and climate stratigraphy. (3) There is a clear transgression through systematic analysis of foraminifera and found that xinghua 2 core MIS5 beginning of a depth of 22.76m . (4) The grain size can be a
