2、 areas formed a unique cultural phenomenon, which vividly revealed the inner desire and the aspirations of the people in this region who devoted their lives to the revolutionary cause. These ballads provide us with, in t

3、erms of academics, valuable resources both for the folk literature research and the study of CCP’s history and, meanwhile, it can be a good reference in the improvement of our party working style. For a long time, howeve

4、r, these ballads have been hardly remembered. According to the statistics from the China Academic Periodical Website, within the years of 1980 to 2010, only 5 academic theses about the revolutionary ballads in this regio

5、n have been published among the total 30 of the relevant ones. So it’s a great pity that academic ignorance occurred in this aspect. This paper is divided into three sections. The first section focuses on the analysis of

6、 the causes and the characteristics of red ballad generation. In our opinion, the spread of Marxism in China as well as in the region of Xiang’EXi areas made up of the theoretic and ideological background, under which, t

7、he surging revolutionary activities blended with the local cultural traditions and the local people’s impulse of art creation catalyzed the generation of the red ballads. Actually, the red ballads in this region characte

8、rize obviously progressivism, militancy and the locality. In the 2nd section, it elicits in the red ballads the connotation of revolutionary spirit and the local people’s thoughts and affections. That is, we focus our

9、attention on the discovery of the spiritual grittiness and the revolutionary heroism contained in the red ballads, in which are charged with the description of optimism, well-disciplined behavior of the Red Army and soli

10、darity between people. Meanwhile, we also make a comprehensive analysis on the subtle concept existing in the local people of “worship for emancipator” and “equalizing wealth and poverty” in the ballads which shows that

11、the local people had a strong desire for their free existence and a clear attitude for what they should love or hate. In the last section we take a discussion on, from both the historical and the realistic perspective,

12、 the significance of the red ballads. For a long time in the history, the red ballads played an active role in disintegrating the enemy force, encouraging the Red Army’s will for fight, and motivating, enlightening and o

13、rganizing the mass. At present, the Chinese nation is on the course of great rejuvenation and the red ballads are still significant in inspiring the entire nation’s vigor as well as in promoting our personality. Key Wo
