2、 standardized pluggable optical module GBIC. The appearance and development of SFP technology is an innovation of optical network interface technology. It’s fabricated by the advanced precision optics and circuit integra
3、tion technics, and its dimension is half of common duplex SC (1×9) optical transceiver. The SFP module also supports pluggable function which means the module can be connected or disconnected to the equipment withou
4、t cutting off the power supply. The SFP optical transceiver complies with Fiber Channel as well as SFP MSA and SFF-8472 documents. This research is intend to develop the SFP module which data rate is 4.25Gbps. The module
5、 meets the requirement of average optical output power and extinction rate, and it also ensures the stability of above two performances. According to the performances, the bias current and the modulation current of the l
6、aser should be ascertained appropriately and should vary with the change of the temperature. In this design, a high performance VCSEL laser and a laser driver is used to satisfy above requirements. In this design, a high
7、 speed PIN photodiode is used in the receive part to receive the optical signal and convent it to the electrical signal. The electrical signal is amplified by a transimpedance amplifier which is integrated with the photo
8、diode, and is amplified further by a limiting amplifier. In this design, a 20-PIN golden figure which is compliant with SFP MSA specification is used to implement the connection of the electrical interface. This golden f
9、igure has the pluggable function. In this design, an advanced 2-wire serial interface control is also used to complete the transfer and control of the clock signals and data signals by a microcontroller, and store the i
10、nformation of the SFP module in an EEPROM. The SFP module sample fabricated by this design meets the requirement of the customs in dimension and performance. Key words: Fiber Channel Small Form-factor Pluggable Optical
