5、plexityofhepaticapplicationsdevelopmentrisesfromthefactthatthehepaticapplicationcomponents(suchasthehepaticAPIthedevicethehepaticrenderingalgithmsetc.)needtointeractwiththegraphiccomponentsindertoachievesynchronicity.Add

6、itionallythereisalackofapplicationptabilityastheapplicationistightlycoupledtoaspecificdevicethatnecessitatestheuseofitscrespondingAPI.TherefedeviceAPIheterogeneityleadtothefragmentationdisientationofbothresearchersdevelo

7、pers.Inviewofalltheseconsiderationsthereisaclearneedfanauthingtoolthatcanbuildhepaticapplicationswhilehidingprogrammingdetailsfromtheapplicationmodeler(suchasAPIdevicevirtualmodel).Thispaperdescribesthetechnicaldevelopme

8、ntofthehepaticApplicationMarkupLanguageAuthingTool(HAMLAT).ItisintendedtoexplainthedesigndecisionsusedfdevelopingHAMLATalsoprovidesanimplementation“roadmap“describingthesourcecodeoftheproject.B.BlenderHAMLATisbasedontheb

9、lender[1]softwaresuitewhichisanopensource3Dmodelingpackagewitharichfeatureset.Ithasasophisticateduserinterfacewhichisnotedfitsefficiencyflexibilityaswellasitssupptsfmultiplefilefmatsphysicsenginemodemcomputergraphicrende

10、ringmanyotherfeatures.BecauseofblendersopenarchitecturesupptivecommunitybaseitwasedastheplatfmofchoicefdevelopmentofHAMLAT.TheopensourcenatureofBlendermeansHAMLATcaneasilyleverageitsexistingfunctionalityfocusonintegratin

11、ghepaticfeatureswhichmakeitacompletehaptovisualmodelingtoolsincedevelopinga3Dmodelingplatfmfromscratchrequiresconsiderabledevelopmenttimeexpertiseindertoreachtheleveloffunctionalityofblender.Alsowecantakeadvantageoffutur

12、eimprovementstoblenderbymergingchangesverticesperhapsaremeshingalgithmto“cleanup“redundantverticestransfmfromaquadtoatriangletopology.Thedataisvisualizedusingagraphical3Drenderedwhichiscapableofdisplayingtheobjectasawire

13、frameasashadedsolidsurface.Thevisualizationisnecessaryindertoseetheeffectsofeditingonthedata.Inanutshellthisexampledefinesthedesignphilosophybehindblendersarchitecture.Inblenderdataisganizedasaseriesoflistsbasedatatypesa

14、recombinedwithlinksbetweenitemsineachlistcreatingcomplexscenesfromsimplestructures.Thisallowsdataelementsineachlisttobereusedthusreducingtheoverallstagerequirements.Fexampleameshmaybelinkedbymultiplesceneobjectsbutthepos

15、itionientationmaychangefeachobjectthetopologyofthemeshremainsthesame.AdiagramillustratingtheganizationofdatastructuresreuseofsceneelementsisshowninFigure2.Asceneobjectlinkstothreeobjectseachofwhichlinktotwopolygonalmeshe

16、s.Themeshesalsoshareacommonmaterialproperty.Theentiresceneisrenderedononeofseveralscreenswhichvisualizesthescene.WeadopttheBlenderdesignapproachfourauthingtool.Thedatastructureswhichareusedtorepresentobjectsina3Dscenehav

17、ebeenaugmentedtoincludefieldsfhepaticproperties(e.g.stiffnessdamping)userinterfacecomponents(e.g.buttonpanels)whichallowthemodelertochangeobjectpropertieshavealsobeenupdatedtoincludesupptfmodifyingthehepaticpropertiesofa

18、nobject.Additionallyaninteractivehippovisualrenderedhasbeenimplementedtodisplaythe3Dscenegraphicallyhecticallyprovidingthemodelerartistwithimmediatefeedbackaboutthechangestheymaketothescene.Aclassdiagramoutliningthechang

19、estotheblenderframewkisshowninFigure3.ComponentswhicharepertinenttoHAMLATareshadedingray.HAMLATbuildsonexistingblendersubsystemsbyextendingthemfhepaticmodelingpurposes.Thetactilekinestheticcueswhicharedisplayedduetointer

20、actionwithvirtualobjectsaretypicallyrenderedbasedonthegeometryofthemesh.inthisdatatype.Otherscenecomponentssuchaslampscameraslinesarenotintuitivelyrenderedusingfcefeedbackhepaticdevicesaretherefenotofcurrentinterestofcha

21、oticrendering.AnaugmentedversionofthemeshdatastructureisshowninFigure4.Itcontainsfieldsfvertexfacedataplussomespecialcustomdatafieldswhichallowdatatobestedtoretrievedfromdiskmemy.Wehavemodifiedthisdatatypetoincludeapoint

22、ertoahepaticsdatastructurewhichsteshepaticpropertiessuchasstiffnessdampingfrictionfthemeshelements(Figure5).SimilarlytothebuiltingraphicalrenderedHAMLATusesacustomrenderedfdisplaying3Dsscenesgraphicalhapcallisinendofthec
